Background:
The design of this stamp set was inspired by the existing artwork of illustrator Robert Papp. Papp drew inspiration from the artistic traditions of the Renaissance to paint these beautiful still lifes. When painting, Papp used classical methods such as transferring a sketch of the subject onto a canvas onto cardboard with a base of burnt umber and adding color to achieve the desired opacity and intensity. Given the short shelf life of fresh produce, Papp photographed his still lifes to complete the work. The stamping set includes several fruit and vegetable motifs, including red and black plums, heirloom and cherry tomatoes, carrots, lemons, blueberries, red and green grapes, lettuce, strawberries, eggplant, and figs.
